For the third consecutive year the OHSU Library is sponsoring a student scholarship to OpenCon, an international conference focused on open science and scholarship. OpenCon provides early career researchers with a platform for learning about open access, open data, and open education, and catalyzing action towards a more open system for sharing scientific information.
We are excited to announce that this year’s scholarship recipient is Jennifer Ku. Jennifer is a 2nd year doctoral student in the epidemiology program at the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health. Jen received a B.S. in neuroscience from University of Michigan and an MPH in epidemiology/biostatistics from OHSU. Her research background is in clinical research, chronic disease and infectious disease epidemiology. Jen currently works at the Center for Infectious Disease Studies as part of her doctoral training. Her current research interests are in the epidemiology of atypical mycobacterial pulmonary disease, the natural history of nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) disease as well as the pharmacoepidemiology of NTM therapy.
Jen is the current chair for the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health Student Leadership Council. In this capacity, she has been working with the OHSU and PSU repository librarians to help build a collection of student research in order to promote their professional identity. At OpenCon, Jen is excited to learn more about making research and educational materials more shareable among the current and next generation researchers! The Library is looking forward to collaborating with Jen when she returns to apply her learning and passion for open science locally.
