Hi, Could the OVID Medline library of Epub ahead of print database be moved near the top of the list of available Medline databases? This is a really important resource for researchers and it’s currently hidden way at the bottom of the long list. Thanks!
Thank you for suggesting this improvement to our OVID database menu list. The change you requested has been made.
I am wondering if it is possible for the library to order on-line subscription access to JOURNAL [NAME REDACTED]? Is there a process for requesting new periodicals to be accessed?
We are always happy to learn what journals you need. You can start with the request form at https://www.ohsu.edu/library/suggest-purchase. Once we receive a request, our Collections Librarian Kristi DeShazo looks at the budget, subscription price, number of articles requested through interlibrary loan, turnaway data from online access, and other data. We then consider your request compared to other requested journals that are awaiting funding.
Depending on the time of year and the budget, the Library may be able to add a journal or we can consider canceling a lesser-used journal to make funds available. If Library funds are not available, we may ask you or your department to consider purchasing the subscription with your funds, and then the Library would help manage your subscription to make it available across OHSU.
If you need full-text articles from any journal that we do not have, please request them via OHSU Library’s Interlibrary Loan service so that we get data on article usage from that journal. You will not be charged for those article requests even if you have exceeded the current 10 free request limit at https://www.ohsu.edu/library/interlibrary-loan-service. I hope this will help you access the information you need regardless of whether the Library can afford a subscription.
How can we improve your Library experience? Make your suggestion to Kris Alpi, University Librarian.
We welcome your suggestions to improve the online and physical services and resources at OHSU Libraries. Submissions from this form go to Kris Alpi, the OHSU University Librarian, and suggestions that include contact information will be responded to within two business days. Suggestions and responses may be shared with the OHSU community through Library Notes, the OHSU Library Blog. Personal information will not be posted.
