Your suggestions, week of 7/15/2019

I would prefer the arrangement of the computers to be more spread out (i.e. less long room).  This way, I don’t have to be as concerned about privacy issue on the computer.  Thank you!

Thank you for providing feedback on the arrangement on the computers on the Library’s 3rd floor.  We agree that the arrangement is very close together, and are considering how we might rearrange things create more space between the computers.   We appreciate your concern for privacy and we recognize that privacy is hard to achieve in an open public space like the library.  You may wish to use one of the workstations on the 2nd floor of the library which are less busy; some are facing in directions where privacy is easier to maintain.   As we continue to rearrange furniture on all the floors of the library, please continue to share your opinions on how we are doing.

Comment from the RLSB LRC Suggestion Box: Computers routinely NOT working.  Will not wake up from sleep.  Furniture is NOT organized properly.  Please have couches, stools, and excess chairs removed from private rooms and organized correctly.  Thank you!  

Thank you for making us aware of this problem with LRC computers.  We have tested and they are working now.  Library staff will now check computers when opening the LRC Service Desk (M-F, 10:00 am) to address any technical issues.

If you are in the LRC during regular Service Desk hours (M-F, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm), please ask Library staff to assist you.  If you are in the LRC outside of those hours, here are some common issues you can check if you wish:

  • See if the computer is turned on.  Some Library users turn off the computers rather than logging off.
  • See if the monitor is on; sometimes the computer is on, but the monitor has been turned off.
  • See that the computer is plugged in and the monitor cable is connected.

If you are having trouble with an LRC computer during the times the Library at the BICC is staffed (M-F, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm), please contact the Library Service Desk at 503-494-3460, or at any time use the Contact Us form on the Library’s home page, and we will try to get the problem resolved as soon as we have staff available to help.

Regarding the LRC furniture: LRC users are welcome to move furniture around to meet their needs.  Library staff will check unoccupied study rooms when they open in the morning and relocate furniture from study rooms to public spaces when study rooms are not occupied, or upon request if the furniture is impeding your use of a room.
