The OHSU Library is excited to announce the addition of over 25 graphic medicine titles to the collection some of which are available in print and some as electronic books.
You may be familiar with graphic novels, which are fiction and non-fiction books that use comics or drawings to depict or enhance a story. Graphic medicine is the use of these comics or drawings to tell personal stories of illness, health, medicine, and science. These novels can show the experience of someone dealing with illness and health in a way that creates empathy and understanding. Patients and families can find support and connection by reading similar stories together. In addition, stories and factual texts teach about the personal context behind health issues so that practitioners get a fuller story around what a patient may be facing.
You can read more about graphic medicine or see what graphic medicine books are at the OHSU Library at the Graphic Medicine Libguide.
