Anjali Rameshbabu, PhD and Helen Schuckers, MPH are traveling to the 29th Annual Art and Science of Health Promotion Conference in South Carolina this week to present two breakout sessions. Their talk, “Rethinking Health Promotion in the Workplace: Engaging Employees the Total Worker Health Way”, will discuss the idea that employee well-being goes beyond addressing lifestyle behaviors, especially when they work long hours, experience job stress, or juggle busy work and home lives. The talk will shed light on Total Worker Health, an evidence-based approach to address significant yet under-represented determinants of health behaviors like work-life balance, organizational culture, leadership behaviors and safety support. Additionally, Anjali and Helen will be sharing resources from the Oregon Healthy Workforce Center tools and toolkits. Fellow attendees will brainstorm and engage in strategizing practical first steps for getting Total Worker Health off the ground and spark ideas for applying a safety, health and well-being approach within their organization.
