ASSP becomes Total Worker Health Affiliate

This past year has been a big year for the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) in addressing Total Worker Health®. Earlier this year ASSP completed the steps to be recognized as a Total Worker Health Affiliate, joining other organizations including the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN), American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM), Association of Occupational Health Professionals in Healthcare (AOHP), and many others. View the complete list of TWH Affiliates. We applaud ASSP’s efforts to join other leading organizations in recognizing Total Worker Health as a concept supportive of workplace safety, health, wellness and wellbeing.

ASSP’s Task Force on Total Worker Health (see ASSP addresses Total Worker Health) has been hard at work 2018- present, crafting a communication campaign, member survey, and a resource-filled website. The survey was conducted in 2019 among its 10,000 active members. It illustrated that 45 percent of those surveyed were not familiar with TWH, but 74 percent of those responding reported they were looking for ways to learn more about it. Learn more about the survey. If you haven’t yet visited ASSP’s Total Worker Health web-based resources, make sure you visit the Total Worker Health summary page, and its companion Resources and Tools site.

We applaud the leadership of ASSP, and all of its staff and members who are helping to shepherd TWH concepts along within its membership. Learn more about ASSP. Find a chapter near you.
