Susan Watterson joins OccHealthSci’s Administration Team

OHSU Tram sunset

The Institute is pleased to welcome Susan Watterson. Susan has expansive experience in research operations, finance, compliance, policy interpretation, strategy execution and people management. These make Susan an excellent choice to assume the role of Senior Institute Administrator for our Institute where she will lead administrative, fiscal and operational functions. Susan gained an array of bench to bedside research administration knowledge while at The Cleveland Clinic where she supported a research coordinating center, managed clinical research finance and compliance departments and oversaw multiple regulatory committees at the Medical College of Ohio. During that period Susan also earned a Master’s degree in Public Health.

Susan joined OHSU 8 years ago as Administrator for The Vaccine & Gene Therapy Institute. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Susan took on additional responsibilities and managed the operations of OHSU’s COVID-19 Research Vaccine Clinic for the AstraZeneca Vaccine Study, led by Dr. Marcel Curlin. Collaborating with over 20 departments, 50+ leaders, faculty, staff and community leaders Susan was pivotal in creating a novel unit critical to clinical testing of a research COVID-19 vaccine. Susan is a research champion, partner, collaborator and serving leader. In our Institute she will use these skills and her energy to support our basic and applied research, education and outreach efforts as we work to improve the health and well-being of people in Oregon and beyond.
