Training for Upgraded SciVal Experts, Funding, and Scopus, May 3

Looking for an easier way to find out who does what at OHSU? To find funding? Or to find statistics on journal citations? OHSU licenses several tools, including SciVal Experts, Funding and Scopus, that are meant to help you find this information and much more, as quickly and easily as possible. These tools have recently undergone a major upgrade, so trainers from Elsevier will be on campus next Thursday, May 3 to demonstrate how to use them. Please join us for one or more of the sessions to learn how these tools may benefit you. Sessions are open to both new and seasoned users, and anyone is welcome to attend.

About the sessions

SciVal Experts training

Use SciVal Experts to find out who does what at OHSU. Experts works by automatically pulling publication data from Scopus, a comprehensive abstract and citation database, to help you identify researcher expertise and connections among authors. The Experts trainer will show you how to identify research expertise at OHSU, find faculty with similar interests, and how to add content to your profile using the new Profile Enhancer feature.

SciVal Funding training

SciVal Funding is a comprehensive database built to help you find targeted opportunities based on your publication history or selected keywords. The SciVal Funding trainer will show you how to do basic searches, filter search results, and set up alerts. They will also be introducing new functionality that integrates the SciVal Experts with Funding.

Scopus training

Scopus is the world’s largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature, including 46 million records (70% with abstracts).  Scopus provides 100% Medline coverage, indexes 4.6 million conference papers and offers sophisticated tools to track, analyze and visualize research. Join us for a session on using Scopus to  find citation data, export references, maintain your author profile, and get access to journal metrics. The Scopus trainer will also demonstrate the most recent features added to this valuable research tool.
