The Oregon Center for Aging and Technology (ORCATECH) is calling on OHSU investigators to submit research proposals for pilot projects (up to $50,000) to improve technology and translate that technology into useful tools to improve health and maintain independence in our aging population. ORCATECH has a particular (although not exclusive) focus on two key reasons for loss of independence: decline in cognitive function and decline in mobility. ORCATECH anticipates a broad potential range of research that may include, for example, exploring personal emergency response systems, intensive data exploration of existing large continuous data sets of senior activity and health outcome prediction, or health maintenance protocols utilizing embedded technology.

OHSU applicants must meet Research Grants & Contracts Office’s criteria for principal investigators. Collaborative projects are encouraged with industry partners, but justification must be made as to why public funds are needed to conduct the research.
