Take a moment to get to know the students participating in this summer’s Equity and CURE internship programs, which are sponsored by OHSU’s Center for Diversity & Inclusion. Equity interns are high school and college students who are interested in pursuing careers in research, medicine, or dentistry. Each student is matched with a faculty mentor at OHSU. The Ted R. Lilley Cancer Continuing Umbrella of Research Education, or CURE Program, is a paid research internship that matches students with a mentor who specializes in cancer. This year’s group of interns come from all over the state, plus New York, Florida, and Washington.
In total, over 200 applicants applied for twenty-two internship positions this year. The average cumulative GPA for interns in both programs is 3.70. Each intern will have the opportunity to present a poster of his or her research project in early August.
