The Portland Area Geriatrics Seminar Series’ next installment, Alzheimer’s Disease: An Emerging Public Health Concern, has three objectives: to increase familiarity with data driven public health in the context of caregiving and dementia, to increase awareness of the 2012 State Plan for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias in Oregon, and to increase awareness of potential public health activities related to Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

Seminar presenters Jon Bartholomew, public policy director, Alzheimer’s Association Oregon Chapter; Charlie Fautin, R.N., M.P.H., health administrator, Benton County Health Department; and Elena Andresen, Ph.D., director, Oregon Office on Disability & Health and professor of epidemiology, Department of Public Health & Preventive Medicine, OHSU, form an expert panel consistent with the Series’ intent of providing interdisciplinary, evidence-based resources for and by professionals involved in care and research for elders.
