Nurses and physicians: Sojourns Scholar Program applications due on Feb. 26

Cambia Health Foundation’s Sojourns Scholar Leadership Program is an initiative designed to identify, cultivate and advance the next generation of palliative care leaders. The program supports outstanding nurse and physician emerging leaders in education and practice by investing in their professional development. Scholars will receive $90,000 per year for two years in funding to conduct an innovative impactful clinical, research, education or policy project in the field of palliative care and implement a leadership career plan all designed to support their growth as leaders in the field.

Last year, Seiko Izumi, R.N., Ph.D., assistant professor in the School of Nursing, was named one of 10 recipients. Learn more about last year’s scholars here.

Eligibility

  • Nurses and Physicians: must be certified by the National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses/Medicine or must have two years post-masters/training.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a clear commitment to palliative care.
  • At least one local mentor to provide support to the Scholar’s project and professional development in the palliative care field.
  • Awardees should not be a current recipient of a career development award at the time of initial Sojourns Scholar Program funding (e.g. NIH K-Award, VA career award, National Palliative Care Research Center, or other foundation-funded career award).

Applications are due on Friday, Feb. 26 at 12 p.m. PST.
