Art of Science competition: Call for entries, deadline May 10

The 2019 OHSU Art of Science competition invites submissions of visual explorations of science. All OHSU community members are encouraged to submit up to three original images by May 10. July 2019 update: See the top-place winners of the competition

Connecting creative disciplines

Submissions will be displayed at the OHSU Auditorium from May 13 to 15 and winners will be announced at the close of Research Week. Selections will be made for first, second and third place and People’s Choice. 

Winners will be chosen by representatives from OHSU Research and Innovation and Nikon, who are sponsoring the competition. The top three contestants and the People’s Choice winner will receive small cash prizes and have their images framed for their personal use, as well as featured on the OHSU Research website. In addition, the first prize will be framed and hung in the OHSU Research and Innovation office.

Submission deadline: Wednesday, May 10, midnight

  • You may submit up to three images. Submit each entry separately with its own caption. If several images form a whole, submit the images together with a single caption
  • For each entry, send the following to
    • high-resolution image (.tif, .jpg, .gif, or .png)
    • caption describing the image
    • your name and contact information
  • Winners must have appropriate permissions for using images on the OHSU website and publications

Entries are limited to two-dimensional images this year.

All OHSU staff, faculty and students/trainees are encouraged to participate.

    1. We’ve added a People’s Choice category, and voting will begin today and extend through June 26. The link to vote will be posted on Research News later today. Announcements of all winners will be made on June 28. Thanks for your patience!
