Research Week: Student’s Choice keynote speaker announced

Research Week 2019: May 13-15
Sarah Andrea has more than 20 peer-reviewed publications, and her work has been featured in Newsweek and NPR’s Science Friday

Sarah Andrea, M.P.H., investigates gender, racial and class-based inequities in health. She will deliver the 2019 Research Week Student’s Choice Keynote Address.

Andrea recently completed her dissertation defense in the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health. Her research on the health impact of precarious tipped service work was fueled by her personal experience growing up in a working class family.

Personal experience also drives Andrea’s passion for mentorship and student advocacy.  Alongside her commitment to research is a determination to leverage her growing academic social capital to break down the barriers faced by students — especially those from marginalized populations.

Student’s Choice Keynote Address

Tuesday, May 14, 11 a.m. to noon
OHSU Auditorium
Introduction by David Bangsberg, M.D., M.P.H.
Dean, OHSU–PSU School of Public Health

In her keynote address, Andrea will talk about her experience — as a first-generation college student — over the course of more than a decade as a researcher.
