What: Supports SON or interprofessional pilot studies on improving older adults’ healthcare to assess feasibility or collect preliminary data to support an external grant application

Multidisciplinary ‖ Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute Phased Large Awards for Comparative Effectiveness Research – Cycle 2 2020
What: Funding for an individual-level or cluster randomized controlled trial that examines a critical patient-centered research question in comparative effectiveness, requiring funding in excess of $10 million in direct costs. This funding opportunity will require internal review; contact David Dorr, Chief Research Information Officer, at dorrd@ohsu.edu if interested and he will advise with the support of OCTRI, which has a strong interest in enhancing OHSU’s pragmatic clinical trial presence
Who should apply: Investigators will eventually need to have the support of a data coordinating center, though it won’t need to be identified in the letter of intent
Award: Up to $22 million/up to six and a half years

Internal Opportunities

Multidisciplinary School of Medicine Physician-Scientist Transitional Support Award
What: Transitional and new appointment/recruitment support awards to support OHSU physician scientists as they coming to the end of a national or independent career development award
Who should apply:
Physician-scientists in the final stages or who have just ended a career development award and likely to obtain an R01 while receiving this award
Award:
$50,000 per year/up to two years

Multidisciplinary NIGMS and ORIP High-End Instrumentation (HEI) Grant Program (S10 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)
What: Funding for groups of NIH-supported investigators to purchase or upgrade a single item of high-end, specialized and commercially available instruments or integrated systems. As in previous years, this competition requires 1-3 page preliminary proposal that includes: what instrument is requested; why it is needed; instrument cost; cost of maintenance contract; where it will be located; major user group, including PIs with qualifying NIH funding active at time of award; and any institutional support.  These pre proposals must be sent to Sue Aicher at aichers@ohsu.edu and are reviewed by Dr. Aicher and senior research leadership. Note that this is a different process from the S10 Shared Instrumentation for Animal Research Grant Program, which is a limited submission

PIs with technical expertise directly related to the type of the chosen instrument. At least three major users of the instrument must be identified

Multidisciplinary NIGMS and ORIP Shared Instrumentation Grant (SIG) Program (S10 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)
What: Funding for groups of NIH-supported investigators to purchase or upgrade a single item of high-priced, specialized and commercially available instruments or integrated systems. As in previous years, this competition requires 1-3 page preliminary proposal that includes: what instrument is requested; why it is needed; instrument cost; cost of maintenance contract; where it will be located; major user group, including PIs with qualifying NIH funding active at time of award; and any institutional support.  These pre proposals must be sent to Sue Aicher at aichers@ohsu.edu and are reviewed by Dr. Aicher and senior research leadership. Multidisciplinary OCTRI OSLER TL1 Predoctoral and Postdoctoral Mentored Career Development Opportunity
What: Supports training and career development in clinical and translational research through a TL1 grant similar to an NIH NRSA T32 grant
Who should apply:
Students currently in professional training, PhD graduate students, and postdoctoral clinical and research fellows from OHSU, PSU, UO and OSU
Award:
Monthly stipend, partial tuition and fee support, didactic coursework, journal clubs and mentored training

What: Award for research that modulates neural activity through physical stimulation of targeted sites in the nervous system with implications for translational medicine
Who should apply:
Researchers who are within 10 years of their professional degree, under 45 years old and completed prize-related research in the past three years

Biomedical Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator Program
What: Awardees will become employees of HHMI on a seven-year renewable term and receive financial support for research and access to capital equipment funds. HHMI focuses on biomedical research areas
Who should apply: Tenure or tenure-track faculty with between five and 15 years of professional experience and at least three years of PI experience on at least one active research grant as of April 1, 2020

Pulmonology International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Karel Styblo Public Health Prize
What: Recognizes a health worker or a community organization for contributions to tuberculosis control over 10 years or longer
