Writing a grant proposal is a daunting task, and the specific aims portion requires special attention. If you’ll soon be tackling the specific aims of your grant proposal, make sure to check out the two-part workshop presented by OHSU Research Development and the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs on how to draft a specific aims page.

Part 1 of the workshop will introduce the general structure of a scientific grant proposal, and part 2 will teach you how to draft and refine your specific aims by first analyzing sample specific aims and then revising your own. Both parts of the workshop will be led by Rachel Dresbeck, Ph.D., Director of Research Development, and Nithya Ramalingam, Ph.D., Postdoctoral Affairs Officer.

The workshop will focus on techniques that will make your writing clearer and more succinct, and what you learn will be applicable to grant and fellowship proposals for a variety of funding agencies.

Part 1 of the workshop is on June 5 and will go from noon to 1 p.m.; part 2 is on June 19 and will go from noon to 4 p.m. If you’re interested in attending one or both of the workshops, register on Compass by searching “specific aims”; please note that you must attend part 1 to attend part 2.
