— Participate on a team
— Be a mentor

The Invent-a-thon, with MIT Hackathon and academic and industry sponsors, is hosting three days of mentored teamwork focused on building innovative solutions to urgent healthcare challenges in the following four tracks:

  • Surgical care
  • Early disease detection
  • Rural and low resource setting health care
  • Management of chronic conditions

Over a weekend, creative academic and industry partners from across the Pacific Northwest — and since it’s now virtual, the world — will gather to tackle these pressing problems.

Prizes and Health Care Disparities Prize

Up to $40,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to the winning teams across the four tracks. Additional in-kind prizes will also be awarded. Some prizes may be awarded to continuing teams at a post-hack event.

The Invent-a-thon crew encourages teams across the four tracks to explore innovative approaches to overcoming health care disparities and will be awarding an additional prize to the team that develops the most impactful solution in this area.

Keynote speakers and mentors

Keynote speakers include Eric Agdeppa, Ph.,D.; Jon Bloom, M.D.; Nadine Hachach-Haram, M.D.; Maura Little; and Kistein Monkhouse, M.P.A.

Knowledgeable mentors are a big part of what makes the event so successful. Consider applying to be a mentor — two hours mentoring teams and opportunities to network with other mentors — if you have  significant expertise in medicine, research, engineering, business, commercialization, design, programming, or patient advocacy. We know your time and expertise are valuable.
