High-level recognition for OHSU research

During a White House press briefing on Wednesday, May 5, Anthony Fauci, chief medical adviser to President Joe Biden, called out findings from the OHSU labs of Fikadu Tafesse, Bill Messer and Marcel Curlin revealing that people previously infected with the novel coronavirus stand to get a much greater benefit of protection against new variants if they’re vaccinated. Watch the White House briefing from May 4 (he shares OHSU’s work about 14 minutes into the full video).

Within OHSU, we already know that our researchers are among the best in the business. It’s also nice to get public recognition from the nation’s top physician advising the U.S. president – especially for a publication that was only published as a preprint less than a week ago.

Drs. Curlin and Tafesse also appeared on OPB’s public affairs program Think Out Loud on Wednesday.
