OHSU Research Week 2022 features two timely workshops especially for (but not exclusive to) trainees: Planning for your career and gaining skills in negotiation. Register today for these virtual sessions!

Planning for your career through self reflection

Monday, May 2, 1-2:45 p.m.
Register in Compass to receive materials before the meeting. Join the Webex meeting.

You may be certain about your career path, or you may be determining whether you want to enter academia, industry, government or something else. No matter where you are in the process, it’s helpful to know the next steps to take. This highly interactive workshop includes learning to develop a 5/10/20 year plan. Understanding your near and long-term career plans will inform what you privilege in future negotiations — the topic of the second workshop. Facilitated by Dahir Dahir and Christine Lundeen from the OHSU Learning and Organizational team.

Student and trainee workshop: Negotiation

Wednesday, May 4, 1-2:45 p.m.
No registration required.
Join the Webex meeting.

It is never too early to develop your negotiation skills. You definitely want to be paid well for your labor, but this workshop brings in an expert who will work with the group to see a much larger picture. Your role, responsibilities and career trajectory are topics for negotiation and help negotiate for equity. Being well-prepared for negotiations will help build your confidence and can open up new opportunities. This small group workshop is a great setting for learning more about negotiations. Facilitated by Seth Igarta, professional development and career development specialist, OHSU.
