After spending my first 18 years in San Diego, I headed to the Northeast for college. Between college and medical school I took three years off: I continued with the neuroscience research I’d been doing, worked as an administrative assistant, got certified as an EMT-Basic, spent a month exploring community health in Pastaza, the rainforest province in Ecuador, did clinical research for investigational new drugs, mostly for COPD, but also for asthma and allergies, took some more classes, got a master’s degree in medical science (from a *Special Masters Program* [visualize handwaiving]), TA’d anatomy for nursing students, and volunteered at Outside In (in the kitchen and the clinic) and teaching English and study tips to immigrants who were studying for their Naturalization Exam. I also had Sheera partway through medical school, and recently adopted Sophie, a german shorthaired pointer.

I graduated from the OHSU School of Medicine in 2011, and am currently an intern in the OHSU Family Medicine/Preventive Medicine program.
